Construction of a new building to be used as a first-grade secondary school
The project involves the regeneration of a currently unused green area where the new first-grade secondary school is planned to be built following the demolition of the adjacent existing school. The comprehensive project includes the creation of a green loop with a cycling and pedestrian path that can be used by students and teachers, as well as by the entire citizenry. This proposal therefore plans the realization of only Lot 1, concerning this green path which runs along the Rio Rigoncello and involves the creation of a cycling and pedestrian loop in compacted gravel, delimited by arboreal and shrub species on one side and by the Rio Rigoncello on the other. The project is completed by a de-sealing operation through new draining pavements for the rationalization of the existing parking area and the connection of this path with the adjacent cemetery area and the access to the current school. Within the project, NBS solutions have been adopted, such as the creation of rain gardens, tree-lined parking lots and paths, and systems for rainwater harvesting and irrigation wells, with the aim of not burdening the water supply and creating useful rainwater containment systems in case of intense weather events.

The project is one of the 20 Operations of Strategic Importance - Europe 27 Projects, funded by the call for proposals Design and construction of blue-green infrastructures in urban and peri-urban areas, with resources from the ERDF Regional Program 2021-2027, in implementation of Priority 2 - Sustainability, decarbonization, biodiversity and resilience, Specific Objective 2.7 - Strengthen nature protection and conservation, biodiversity and green infrastructure, including the one in urban areas, and reduce all forms of pollution, Action 2.7.1.
